André de Melo from Portugal sent me this cover with 2009 two commemorative stamps named Major Figures of History and Culture. The first stamp celebrates the centenary of the birth of Joaquim Soeiro Pereira Gomes, a Portuguese writer of realist influence, one of the major names of Portuguese literature of the 20th century. The second stamp celebrates 150 years of birth of Henrique Pousão, Portuguese painter. One of his best works “Waiting for Success”, painted in 1882, is the image printed on the stamp.

On May 9, 2006 Portugal/Madeira issued a two stamp souvenir sheet for Europa/Integration as seen by the young. In one of the stamp a blind man is shown walking with a guide dog, drawing by a young person. Another thematic stamp to my blind/blindness collection. Obrigado, André!
